On OpenOffice....

I read that OpenOffice 2.0 rc is now available. OpenOffice.org version 2.0 will uses the open standard OASIS OpenDocument XML format as the default file format. The OASIS OpenDocument format is a vendor and implementation independent file format. It thus guarantees freedom and independence from lock-in of proprietary formats.
Governments, in particular, have the responsibility of sharing information with the society. They must ensure that the information is available in a open, well documented file format and the public is not forced into using a particular software from a particular vendor. This makes it particularly attractive for governments as well as large organizations to use OpenOffice. The suite is feature rich and comprehensive. You can try open office by downloading the same from their site.
